You may never meet Gretchen, but we couldn’t run the place without her. Our first administrative employee, Gretchen met Andy when he remodeled her kitchen in the late 1990s. By 2000, she had come on to help him manage the business and the two of them ran Earthtone nearly alone for the next five years. (Now, there are over 40 people on the payroll.) Gretchen handles the money, the payroll, the insurance, the supplies — the things that make a business hum. But most of all, it is her integrity, empathy, historical perspective, and BS detector that make her so necessary to us.
